Charter Communications wins Bankruptcy Confirmation

Many people in the Knoxville area get telephone, cable, or internet service from Charter Communications. They are also an employer in town. You may not have been aware that Charter was in bankruptcy proceedings, but you should know that it’s a reorganization and not a liquidation. And today they’re plan to reorganize debt was approved by the Court in New York. It was a bitter battle, however. The judge said the company “engaged in one of the most hotly contested confirmation battles ever conducted.”

Afterward Chief Executive Officer Neil Smit said in a statement that approval of the plan is a “positive outcome for our customers, vendors, and employees.” The judge apparently agrees as he said this agreement allows the company to “flourish”.
